Past Performance

Our past performance projects include support of highly complex and high visibility projects across the US DOE complex.

IWTU

SE&C's Senior Engineering Manager Mike Weimers shows the redesigned auger-grinder to former DOE-EM Assistant Secretary Monica Regalbuto.

Idaho Cleanup Project Core - IWTU Technical Resolutions

Under contract with Fluor Idaho, LLC since 2015, SE&C has provided technical personnel that has been instrumental at resolving the technical issues of the Integrated Waste Treatment Unit (IWTU).

In addition, SE&C supported Fluor Idaho, LLC during contract transition by providing technical SMEs in the areas of waste management.

TBI - In-tank Pretreatment System (ITPS)

The ITPS consists of filtration and ion exchange units similar to the Savannah River Site Tank Closure Cesium Removal (TCCR) and the Hanford Tank Side Cesium Removal (TSCR) units.

Test Bed Initiative (TBI Project-Offsite Disposal of Hanford LAW)

The DOE Office of Environmental Management (DOE-EM) is conducting a Hanford Test Bed Initiative (TBI) to demonstrate the feasibility of options for retrieval and treatment of the low activity portion of the tank waste at the Hanford Site in Washington State. This waste is designated as ‘low activity waste’ or LAW at Hanford. Once treated, it contains the same constituents as low level radioactive waste (LLW), and would be similar to LLW managed at Hanford, other DOE sites, and commercially-generated LLW regulated by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The TBI will use existing processes and commercial facilities to immobilize the treated Hanford tank waste in a solid form which will then be disposed of at Waste Control Specialists LLC (WCS) in Andrews, Texas.

This three phase demonstration is currently on the second phase which consists of an engineering scale demonstration that will treat and dispose 2,000 gallons of Hanford LAW. The third phase will consist of a full scale demonstration that will treat and dispose up to 500,000 gallons of Hanford LAW.
